Had our first practice this morning...second one after school this afternoon...
We finished last season 17-5, and only lost 2 seniors to graduation. We return 9 letter winners from last season.
One of our very best players tore her ACL last year in game #7, and we were 7-0 at that point, has returned, and looks to be no worse for the wear.
With a little luck (injury-wise) and a little consistency...we could be one of the toughest teams in the state again. Although the seniors we lost were hard workers, and good players...they were mostly role players...neither scored much, but were great defenders.
We have some talent there to take their place...but we have got to get some more good defenders to take their place.
I'm cautiously optimistic that this could be a memorable season for me, and the team. This will probably be my last year coaching basketball for a long time, with baby #4 coming right at the end of this season, I'm probably gonna go into temporary retirement and work on being a Dad.
This could very well be my best shot as a coach at making the state tournament. and so far...things are looking good!
