Posted: 05/30/04 - 16:25 Post subject: LIVE from Da Burgh...it's Saturday night!
OK, so I'm lying and it's Sunday afternoon! We were a little busy last night and didn't get to post.
I have had THE BEST time this weekend at the absolutely gorgeous home of my wonderful big sis Rolling Rock. I got here at about 4:30 on Friday after only one small mishap--I lost my turnpike ticket and ended up having to pay $13.00 to get off (the pike, that is). Other than that, the trip was uneventful and the drive out here is really pretty! I was greeted enthusiastically by RR, Kidrock and Littlegirl, with whom I bonded almost instantly and who has been my constant companion all weekend. The house is just beautiful and I even have my own bathroom!
Friday night, Mr. Rock made it home in time for dinner and we just chilled out catching up on gossip, going for a walk and such. RR is a fabulous cook and after dinner Mr. Rock built a fire outside and we sat up telling ghost stories until Littlegirl scared herself and we had to go in! Saturday, the girlies went shopping and bought lotsa cool stuff at Claire's and Limited Too and we surprised Kidrock with a deluxe monopoly set. The tournament is scheduled for tonight after dinner. Mr. Rock took the ladies out for lunch at the local microbrew and I got to sample some of Pittsburgh's finest (no, not Rolling Rock or Iron City ).
Last night, I got to meet my very dear friend Keltic for the first time when he came over for yet another gourmet RR meal. A good time and many, many laughs were had by all, and he even treated us to an impromptu piano recital. This man is TALENTED with a HUGE CAPITAL T!!!! Did I mention that Mr. Rock and I have the same taste in beer (Twinkie, he likes Dogfish Head too!!) and that he is totally one of the gang now?
Today, the girlies went for a long walk out at a gorgeous park nearby (pics to follow) and then I spent most of the afternoon with Keltic. Another wonderful day. The weather's been perfect, the company even more so, and tonight it's grillin' and chillin' at La Casa Rock followed by a Monopoly tournament. Littlegirl and I already have plans to win Sadly, the weekend comes to an end sometime tomorrow around lunchtime as I head back to the icky.....errrr, I mean Eastern, part of the state, but rest assured, the memories from this trip will last a lifetime. I even learned to like cats!!!
Many many thanks to my wonderful big sis RR and her family for opening their arms, their hearts and their home to me and proving beyond a shadow of a doubt what I have felt for many years: family is not just about shared DNA, it's about what's in your heart. I love you guys And to my good friend Keltic, with whom I've shared many a foxhole in this battle for survival called life over the past year or two, you are every bit as delightful as I suspected you were and I am SO SO glad we had the chance to meet as well this weekend.
Hope everyone else had as terrific a weekend as I did......

No DFH this weekend, but I did have a Magic Hat Spaceman Ale, and a Pete's Rally Cap Ale. The last DFH I had was last weekend with a couple CH'ers in Hahvid Squayah. We had a couple Raison D'etres.

But of course!
Well, I'm back home now and already sad and missing everyone . Make sure y'all go read RR's race report from this morning and make her tell you how great Mr. Rock did also!!!! These two are gonna need to build an addition in their basement for all of their combined hardware, I tell ya!
The Monopoly tournament was a huge success, we stopped at 9:30 last night and picked it up again today for a couple hours before I left. Kidrock and Littlegirl did awesome for their first time playing, and I caught wind of a rematch being planned as I was walking out the door. Two more converts, methinks!
Going back to work is really gonna suck after this fubtastic weekend.
