Thanks to a love of espresso and thanks to Brie for turning me on to the Krups line of espresso makers, I am now the proud owner of a Krups Artese XE. (Thanks to Christmas money from my parents and BC)

This thing is amazing. You can find it online for $188-$250--but we found it on clearance (because it's last year's model) for $99 at Fry's Electronics.
It has these things going for it:

It operates with 15 bars of pressure to produce excellent espresso. It does not steam the coffee, instead it forces the water through so it isn't bitter or weak.

It works with neat little coffee pods (expensive) or regular espresso grind you add yourself. (decaf or regular) It makes amazing frothed milk--for steamers or chai or lattes. And it works best with lowfat milk, so our lattes use 1%--so I'm getting calcium but not a lot of fat.

It is heads and shoulders above my last dinky little espresso maker from years ago--this one has consistently provided us with the exact same (if not better) product that Starbucks offers.

I think that in one week it's almost paid for itself, we've used it so much.

So, I give it 10 coffee beans out of 10 coffee beans.
