That's how Hayden left the birthday party we attended today and his daddy carried him home. He's been a PITA all day and when he threw a tantrum at the party that was it.
UGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! I can't fathom dealing with the mood swings of a teenager! I can barely handle them in a 3 year old!!!!!!!!!!
So much for his big reward of renting a movie and getting ice cream last night for earning all his marbles last week.
Serenity NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carrie used to sob every time a friend had to leave or if she had to leave a party. She didn't understand that it's time for it to just be "over" or her friends have to go back to their houses.
It was so embarassing.

I typically tell my kids I'm leaving and walk out the door. When they see that I mean it...they come running after me. It sounds mean, but it works.

Well, It gets better.
The 8 year old, and the 10 year old....they are pretty darn cool kids. So much fun.
However, I do fear the teenage years.

OH I Molly I thought your thread was about the Will Farrell movie????
Well meltdowns happen, though as my kids have gotten older, they get fewer and fewer. Like Coach said I am fearing the teenage years

I used to look at my kids and say.. "Is that the best you've got?? The folks on the other side of the store can't hear ya" That was usualy the end of it.. Of course there was the "look". If you got the look, it ment deep trouble when we got home...

Tantrums are bad. And no, the mood swings do not end until they are about 19 and in college. Look how much you have to look forward to !!!

I originally thought you were talking about taking my wife to a cultural event that did not include a person in a black and white striped shirt and some sort of ball.

Yes. It's funny how different it is now having a kid when before you'd see it happen and just didn't understand. Now when I see some other parent dealing with a kid and a tantrum I feel for them!!!
Poor kid recovered and had a good rest of the weekend. Although when he woke up from his nap Saturday and asked about getting his cupcake I about laughed my butt off. Oh sure, we had to take you home kicking and screaming from the party but you're still getting your cupcake....

True! I remember what I was like as a teenager....and beyond. But it did get better as I went through college. My mom and I butted heads and didn't get along at all in high school, but became very close in college and thereafter.
