thletes will undergo doping tests before taking part in the All Africa Games, officials have announced. The exercise began at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, team camp and will go on for the next several days. According to Kenya National Sports Council chairman, Joshua Okuthe, the exercise is meant to ensure that none of the athletes fail the test in Algeria.

“We are determined to carry a drug free team to Algeria and we have invited the anti-doping team here for that purpose,” he said.

He asked all athletes to co-operate when summoned to give samples of their blood or urine.

“We are also asking them not to take anything that may make them test negative for banned substances,” he warned.

Okuthe said a nutritionist has also been attached to the team to ensure that athletes maintain the required weight for their competitions.

“Stories of athletes being over-weight before their events are no more. We have a nutritionist in the team to ensure that the correct weights are maintained,” added Okuthe.
