Anyone else like kayaking?

I went yesterday for the first time down here and I'm thinking about getting one! (I get them wholesale through work). What a great way to see the water!

A few years ago Mr Poky and I went to Key West, and kayaked and snorkled through the mangroves. I absolutely loved it! I was ready to sell the house and the kids and move. Mr. Green

I've done a modified version of kayaking that was self-bailing. You're going to have a blast. I also really like rafting, but have only done this in WI and think it would be more fun on rougher water. How are you learning to Kayak? A

A couple trips ago, I took a nephew and he lost control of his kayak and ran over a dude who was in a real kayak who had no idea what he was doing either....there's a picture of this guy's kayak with no guy and just his hat floating in the water. Shocked I saw him at the campsite hours later, so I guess he's ok as he'll ever be.

We're about 80 miles north of Key West. There's all kinds of little mangroves and uninhabited Keys with cool bird, sea, and plant life!

And I can't hurt my feet/ankles this way...

I'd like to get into kayaking, but I've got too many other pursuits going on right now. Hopefully next year I can do some leisurely paddling.

Shelee - I've kayaked before, but in rougher water (read rivers). This water down here, especially on the bayside, is shallow, and smooth as glass. You glide right through it, depending on whether or not the tide is going in or out or slack. These are sit upon kayaks, as opposed to sit in.

we did kayaking when we were in Alaska. It was awesome. We were ocean kayaking on the Pacific ocean. In and out of coves and stuff. It was incredible.

When the kids get older, I will do that with them.

I'm in my canoe quite a bit but do think a kayak would be fun, especially times when I'm the only one wanting to go out. Solo canoeing an 18-1/2 footer isn't always the easiest. Confused

Wasn't that the last photo taken before U-20 sank her in 1915?

I like the kayaks that you can sit upon! They are great and easy to handle. They make them where 2-3 people can ride on top of them.

I'd invest in one if I were closer to water for sure. Very Happy
