Questions:

1. If Rove is guilty of anything illegal in this matter, why hasn't the special prosecutor charged him w/ a crime?

2. Why is Judith Miller in jail for failing to disclose a source for an article she didn't even write? What is the NY Times protecting?

3. Why did Joe Wilson refuse to answer a direct question about his wife's supposed covert status this past Sunday in an interview on Fox News?

Talk among yourselves. I will go get the popcorn.

Popcorn, indeed, Sonny.

Here's an article dated 19 July from the 'liberal rag' the Wall Street Journal titled: Memo Underscored Issue of Shielding Plame's Identity

http://online.wsj.com/public/article/0,,SB112170178721288385-uh1ILw_RG4bAJGgqjdsNHxrYSNE_20050818,00.html?mod=blogs

and a more detailed followup from Walter Pincus in The Washington Post
Plame's Identity Marked As Secret
Memo Central to Probe Of Leak Was Written By State Dept. Analyst

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/20/AR2005072002517.html

Some key parts are:
A classified State Department memorandum central to a federal leak investigation contained information about CIA officer Valerie Plame in a paragraph marked "(S)" for secret, a clear indication that any Bush administration official who read it should have been aware the information was classified, according to current and former government officials.
...

The paragraph identifying her as the wife of former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV was clearly marked to show that it contained classified material at the "secret" level, two sources said. The CIA classifies as "secret" the names of officers whose identities are covert, according to former senior agency officials.

Anyone reading that paragraph should have been aware that it contained secret information, though that designation was not specifically attached to Plame's name and did not describe her status as covert, the sources said.

So we can see how the spin will shape up from that last comment, I'd think.

As for why Karl hasn't been charged yet, I don't think anyone has been at this point, nor will they be until the indictments are handed down. Miller is jailed for contempt and obstruction of justice, and I think as that earlier posted E&P article suggested, she may be far more involved in this story than just a noble, innocent reporter who refused to divulge sources, esp, as you correctly say, she didn't even write the story or apparently intend to. So finding out where she fits in will make for some mighty interesting reading.

I'm pretty sure that if I wanted to keep something a secret I'd mark it with any letter other than "s." I'm just sayin'.

to continue with your hijack... that's a good idea. one of our guys spray painted an "S" on a bunch of steel tooling for "Save". Another guy thought it meant "Scrap".... you can guess the rest of the story - a bunch of rebuilt tooling.

No charges for W.House aide Rove in CIA leak case
Tue Jun 13, 2006 7:38am ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - White House aide Karl Rove, U.S. President George W. Bush's top political adviser, will not be charged in the CIA leak case, his attorney confirmed on Tuesday.

"On June 12, 2006, special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald formally advised us that he does not anticipate seeking charges against Karl Rove," Rove's lawyer, Robert Luskin, said in a statement.

The question of what would happen to Rove, one of Washington's most powerful and polarizing figures, in the CIA case had been a major topic in Washington since Lewis Libby, a former top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney, was indicted on charges relating to the leak of a CIA covert operative's name.

I'm sure the entire liberal media will be give this story 1/10th of the attention as they did last fall because they are fair and balanced.

Yes, Rowe should be fired. He is a symbol of the arrogance and tyranny of the current Bush Administration. There is no doubt he would be willing to sacrifice at best simply the career and at worst the lives of Americans who disagree with him and/or the the Administration.

You can't back a word of that up and that is a really weak response GRR. You sound like... like you're whining.
