but I've been essentially forced out. Someone who cares enough about me doesn't want me to get sucked in, so I'm going to leave.

It's not you, it's me. I think it would be best if we just stayed friends and didn't have such a deep emotional relationship. I like you too much to risk hurting what we have by having a relationship.
