Ouch. Perhaps you can put something in the banners above to indicate that you're still there?
Good luck over there.

We're hiring like crazy here. All you need are a pair of waders.

I always hate to hear about layoffs. If it's one or two peeps that were useless in the position, then not so much. But when it's a whole slew of peeps--it's just sad.
We are downsizing here in the AF like you wouldn't believe. A bunch of Lt's received their walking papers last month. (They will be separated in Sept).
Some of these are really good kids who would have been a huge asset to the country. Ah well. Their aptitude and ability means that they will succeed in any venue they try.

Well yeah, with people all around him losing their jobs, the last place he wants to be caught perusing is a non work-related forum. Although I'd probably be all over monster.com (or the like) were I in his shoes.
It is teh suck when people lose jobs through no fault of their own. Tough stuff.

I managed to survive 8 layoff rounds over the last few years with the bursting of the hi-tech bubble, and they just get harder and harder. The first round, you get rid of the people who really aren't pulling their weight. But after that, there's no more fat to trim and it's up to management to pick the projects that they want to keep - you really have no power whatsoever.
Big vibes to TriBob...

What did they get axed? And more importantly, what was their answer?
