Posted: 11/14/02 - 22:36 Post subject: It's Finally Happened--Gun Company Found Liable for Murder
I dont care how you feel about gun control, this is ridiculous.
remember the case of the young student shooting his teacher in Florida? the gun company has been found liable in that shooting. What's next? are they going to find knife makers liable for stabbings because the knife didnt have a protective sheath?
| Quote: | Pam Grunow's lawyer asked for $76 million. But the jury found gun distributor Valor Corporation 5 percent liable for Grunow's death. The owner of the gun and the school board held the most of the liability, the jury found.
The jury didn't find any liability for Nathanial Brazill, who pulled the trigger. |

With all due respect, how do you make a gun child-proof without rendering it completely useless?
I wonder how many allergy sufferers died because of child-proofed drug containers.

What a crock. No liability for the shooter. People's stupidity is unbelievable.
I am waiting for someone to sue Budweiser for someone becoming an alcoholic

If I'm not mistaken, the kid that did the shooting is mildly mentally handicapped (or possibly moderately MH, but I don't know). That could very well be the reason the jury chose not to find him liable for his own actions.
Which means that when he gets older, he'll opt for the stomach surgery because he can't be held liable for his own actions, but I digress...

The court system is totally screwed up.
I bet if this case was tried yet again, a different outcome would occur. Better off replacing the jury system with a random number generator.

it goes to show you that, for the most part, smart people find a way to get out of jury duty
