I remember going to the zoo when I was a kid and the ape threw "something" at the crowd. it was pretty funny, mostly because no one in our family was hit!

I once saw an orangatang eat something from his food dish, vomit it back up into the food dish, and then eat it again. And repeat X 20.

That is sooo awesome (not the vomit snack, the interaction) -- retaliation and play are integral to ape life. Love it!
My zoo story: Adam and I went to St. Louis for our honeymoon. At the Colobus monkey exhibit, we observed (and captured on video) an "inmate" smashing poo with his feet and using his hands to smear it on the wall in deliberate strokes. It wasn't long before a very young Colobus from the other side of the exhibit saw what a good time the other was having. He/she watched the adult and soon joined in, mimicking the technique. And to think, I had to go to art school to spread feces!
