My 5K on Thanksgiving is my first race of the year and I want to blow past my old PR. Since I'm a little rusty on this taper and racing thing here's my schedule for the few previous days and y'all can tell me if that's enough taper or not.

Saturday :: 1 hr. on trainer and 14 mile long run
Sunday :: 1 hr. free weights - back and shoulders. 1 hr. on trainer and 7 mile easy run
Monday :: Free weights - legs AM & 1/2 mi. repeats @ lunchtime
Tuesday :: 1 hr. on trainer - easy
Wednesday :: Nothing
Thursday :: race

I would say go easy on your Monday weight session. And don't forget to stretch A LOT, and drinks lots of water.

Maybe cut that Tue session to 30 min and then on Wed get out for just a mile or two with a half dozen 100m striders to keep everything loose. I always find with tapering it's the 2-days prior that matter the most for me to not over do it.
Good luck. I guarantee that PR is dust, with the training you've been putting in. Are you thinkin' sub-20?

I'm hoping for a low 20's time. Anything sub 20 will just be icing on the cake.
