Wait a minute..is this difference than using your debit card at the pump?
I think NJ is the only state where you cannot pump your own gas? Why is that law in place? Anyone know?
Edited to add now I see it. None of our locations are close to me anyway.

So let me get this straight. You have a speed pass--is it like what they have on the turnpike(we call it express pass on this side of PA)? Except you can use it at the gas station? If that's what you are talking about then that is soooo cool! |
Yeah! You just stick it in your window. I think you can get it from their website.
I just looked and I don't see anywhere to get the car tag, but I did see that you can use the speedpass in McDonalds in Chicago and there is now a Timex-Speedpass enabled watch. |
I had gotten the window mounting one a long time ago. Maybe they don't offer it anymore

Ours is a debit card. What do you mean you aren't allowed to pump your own gas? Who does? I wouldn't mind someone else pumping gas for me. |
Jersey doesn't allow you to pump your own gas-evah. They even have huge signs how you'll be breaking the law if you try. I think it's a union thing maybe? More jobs?

Here in Wobegon, the closest thing to a speedpass we have is if you really lay on the horn when you pull into Jack's Pump & Pizza, Ray will come running, cussing, and spittin' his tobacco wondering what the problem is.

Another great way to get gas easily is to eat Joe's Baked Ziti.

I had to teach an elderly woman how to pump gas just a few weeks ago. She said she had just moved here from New Jersey and had never pumped gas in her life!

What kind of backwards state do I live in? I've never even heard of this. |
Me either! Hell I just started using a debit card in the past week and thought I was technologically advanced.

If I could somehow get that gas into my trucks tank I'd cut my fuel bills in half.

out in Portland, OR you can't pump your own gas either. I got screamed at for trying to by this old toothless man...visual=rejected.
"WHAT IN SAM's NAME ARE YOU DOIN!!!", as he comes limping out of the gas station....
As for the Speedpass dealy, I refrain from spending money at Mobil/Exxon. One of my hot buttons if you will...

Joel if that is about Alaska and the Valdez let me tell you something. Prince William sound is now cleaner than it was before. Exxon pumped over a billion dollars to clean it up. Even the people up there I spoke with said though mad at Exxon, Alaska is cleaner. Standards have changed because of it. I believe they more than paid their debt.
They even built a nature center that cost several million dollars that studies long term effects. It also has an exhibit reminding people of what happened. Yeah it is a little propaganda .
If you are mad for another reason, disregard the above.

I still can't forget about:
--the fact that Joseph Hazelwood didn't even have a drivers license (taken away 6 months before the accident due to DWI) but could somehow captain a vessel of oil. Oh, had 4 whiskeys in him at the time and was currently 'sleeping' at the time of the incident.
--EXXON turned the Prince William Sound area from the 9th best fishing spot in the world to the 1,245th (ballpark)...wiping out 80% of the business and commerce...INSTANTLY. Even though the communities won their cases, Exxon stalled the hearings until 1996 so they wouldn't have to pay a dime back to the community.
--Just 1 and a half years later, EXXON released a video showing how well they cleaned up Prince William and sent the video to thousands of schools. note: there wasn't ONE scene of the damage their spill had caused to the wildlife. Not one.
--They poured in 2.1 million dollars out of their own pockets for the clean-up simply because they were forced to. The CEO of the company didn't even visit the site until a week after the spill.
It's a personal choice that I've made not to support this business, Joe. Every business does alot of sucky things. I deem thee, the suckiest.

I have to second this--I lived in Alaska and PWS is in excellent, pristine condition.
If you ARE mad for another reason, disregard the above, again.
