"The U.S. military presence has become part of the problem, not part of the solution," Kennedy said at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies. "We need a new plan that sets fair and realistic goals for self-government in Iraq, and works with the Iraqi government on a specific timetable for the honorable homecoming of our forces."
I'd love to hear Ted's reasoning behind this. He says this and he says that and has yet to offer any viable plan himself.

Patience........Rome was not built in 1 day!
By the way Girl read between the lines of the article! |
Rome is, in a lot of ways, an excellent example to the kind of empire building we're seeing here.

He has a hard enough time steering a car, let alone a military endeavor.

And I just wanted to point out that I hope, for the sake of the Iraqi people, that we truly went about the ousting of Saddam the best way possible, and that the loss of innocent lives (both civilian and military--on both sides) was worthy. I truly, truly do.

Just so everyone knows where I am comming from.....I am a former Vet of the first Gulf War. I can't tell you how many of us thought we would be back there in 10 years.
There is always a price for freedom, it comes in the form of blood spilled and injuries that happen. If we were still negotiating then the tyrant Hussein would still be in power. There has to come a time when the gloves must be taken off and you have to get dirty!
People may not like the U.S. decision to take him out of power but after seeing some of the press on the Iraqi elections and seeing the joy in their faces, then it's worth it in my book!
P.S. dont listen to Rush (WINDBAG), listen to Kennedy's words and think about the timing of those words.......
