I had both and found cable to be much more reliable.

Cable can be iffy on consistent download speed though.
I used to be capped at 155KB/sec download but recently they've upped the cap to something around 256KB/sec.
Cable was available in our area first so that what we went with.

I love my cable internet service! After having it, I couldn't imagine going back to dial up.

Really! so far you are saying go with cable... I thought it would be the opposite. DSL on paper should be faster and is about $15/month.

I don't have cable, but just recently upgraded to DSL. It's a whole lot better than a dial-up!

I've never had DSL, but I had always thought it would be better. It's a dedicated line and more secure than cable. I've never gotten the chance to try it though because I've always lived outside the service area.
I am surprised at the number of people who prefer cable.

I have dsl and I like it a lot. Problem is, I actually have ADSL (asymetrical DSL). What this means is that I have fast downloads and not so fast uploads. This is particularly painful when I post my digital images to imagestation.
Although cable is not yet available in my area, I also have a satellite tv, so for me to get cable if it was available would mean a few extra $$ per month for basic cable, which I do not want.
While I have never had a problem with my service, I would get cable. It is faster, both on the uploads and downloads. Price is similiar.

You could get cable, but then you would have to get cable..and we know your aversion.

Actually, I love cable, I miss it dearly and go home to my parents house half to see them, half to watch cable. well, 25% them, 25% to eat, 50% HBO My parents actually got this deal where if they got cable they got the cable internet set up for $5 more, so totally $40 I think before HBO.
But, my complex has this monopoly on what cable we choose and its not Time Warner, its 'ghetto fabulous TV' for the bargain low low price of $60/month And thats not including cable internet OR HBO (those are like $45 and $15 additional respectively) I spit on your cable rates. My only alternative is to get a satellite dish but of course my balcony faces exactly the wrong way. So unless I make friends with the person above me (captain stompy) or the people across from me and figure out a way to wire their dishes over to me, it ain't happenin'. And in the meantime I'll find a way to make rabbit ears the cool new mod deco look yet.
