Posted: 12/13/08 - 08:11 Post subject: Iliotibial Band Syndrome (IBFS) Question
I'm training for a marathon in January and have just recently in the past week started having bad pain on the outside of my right knee. It started on a 16 mile run and has remained there for all runs since then. The pain starts when I get to around 2 miles and stops as soon as I stop running (i.e. it isn't there when I walk). I've found several sites that diagnose this as IBFS based on my syptoms.
My question is this....I've got 30 days until my Marathon. What should I do to help cure this? I don't want to mess myself up for the Marathon by not being prepared, but I also don't want to make the pain so bad that I can't complete the Marathon. My goal for the Marathon is to just finish....no specific time goal.
