I'm tired of the people surrounding me here at work talking about their no carb, low carb, fat-free, sugar-free idiotic diets. If they'd get off their asses and do something other than watch tv and gripe about their weight they wouldn't need to deprive themselves of food.

I just got cornered about carbs at lunch.
I wonder if they have any concern for the substitutes and preservatives and unpronounceable chemicals that are in all these fat free, sugar free, carb free products....

BIG FAT FRICKIN' ONE BROTHER.
do you all know that i have been doing this crap since 1991 with no frickin' support from Dr. Ass-kins or Burger-Death, or any other company who has jumped on this low carb bandwagon???
i've done it to keep my kid alive. it's only taken me 13 years to discover which carbs are bad, which are good, and how many iddy-biddy carbs he can eat every day without making him go blind or lose a kidney or a limb by the time he's 25. (which, BTW changes every single day -- you know, the number of iddy-biddy carbs he can eat)
Screw this LOW CARB BS for sure..... It has been my way of life for years --- NOW THEY TELL ME.
this woman practically knocked me down in the foodstore with her 5 ft wide a$$ today asking for the NEW LOW CARB CANDY BARS. deliver me. please.
end rant.

and that is the point that most people miss! When I was weightlifting only, no cardio, I did some of the ketogenic dieting. We are talking no carbs at all. I put my body into ketosis and cut a bunch of fat. once I discovered running, I found out that my body needs the energy and carbs are a great way to supply that energy. My nutritionist once told me that carbs are cheap energy. Your body doesn't care where the "calorie" comes from as long as it has the calories to fuel the activity. Proteins are expensive energy, carbs are cheap energy.

For me as a Diabetic, Carbs can be bad. For some, life and death. I'm not to that point, but if I hadn't taken myself by the seat of the pants I'm sure I would be insulin dependent by now. I have to watch them very closely, especially now that I am not running at all and barely lifting. (Life got in the way, I'll get back to it).

The only bad carb is an unburnt carb.
I say fine.. let 'em all eat bacon. Let the price of pasta and cereal fall through the floor, my grocery bill could use the cut.

Right on. I'm so sick of all the commercials now for all the "Atkins" foods and "low carb" burgers and wraps and this and that. My dad is on Atkins AGAIN and I wish he'd get it through his head that it doesn't work long term....let's see case in point this is the 20th time he's been on it so doesn't that tell him something???? Nope. Drives me up the wall.
