Sounds like my SIL. She's a diabetic and her doctor put her on Atkins because of her insulin problem. She lost quite a bit of weight. My wife decided that she'd try it for the weight loss aspect. Okay, it worked for her, too, but not nearly as much. Oh yeah, my doctor informed me that my LDL was borderline high. (Does anyone see the collision coming?)
And the irony of all this? Doc Atkins died a coupla months ago...he'll miss the huge bucks.

I just tell people my dietary needs are very differnet from most people. If leaves them very confused.

True, but your body takes more energy to burn protein calories (vs. carb calories). Taking in more protein raises your overall metabolism. I think the Atkins thing is joke personally. Everything in moderation. But I do know that I have limited (not eliminated) my carbs (and probably tripled my protein) intake over the last 8 months and lost ~ 20% of body fat. I eat pasta once a week for dinner instead of every other night.
