over... say, out of some money, what is the amount of screwage you'd tolerate before you'd sue?
And if it wasn't about the money, would you take legal action on principle?

Depends on who. If they were a friend or family probably not talk to them again (depends on amount too)
Likely over $1000.00.
anything else I would cut my loss and be done with the person.

I don't have enough money to loan out to get mad about but if I did, I'd probably get pretty cranky at the $500 point.

i tolerate very little screwage in my old age.
i was just screwed royally for $50 - some punk at the door took a magazine subscription and donation from kind-hearted me. that was 12 months ago and still no magazine.
i wouldn't like to sue him, but i would like to kick him in his shins with my biggest baddest $hitkickers on.
i really can't answer the question cuz i think it depends on to whom i was stupid enough to lend the money.....this subject makes me cringe.

If this is something that is going to consistently gnaw at you, then it should not matter whether the money isn't less important than the principle. Whether you have to live with this person or not, a) you have to live with yourself, and b) I know you will always wonder why you let yourself get walked on, and 3) you'd be that much more confident you'd never get yourself in that pickle again.

I guess I would tolerate about $500 - $1000, but I'd be madder than hell and the screwer would know not to mess with me again.
On principle alone, I would do something. I think I would attempt to let the screwer rectify the situation first, then I would take action. I don't know if I'd sue, circumstances would dictate how far I'd be willing to go. There's more than one way to skin a cat.
And there's always Uncle Vito with the violin case. Shall I get his number for you???

50 cents.
Some ho from work stole one of my Cokes, so that bish has to pay up with interest. So far I only got her fired by HR for stealing, then she lost her house, had to give up her dog to a shelter, and began drinking heavily. Anyway, I'm still waiting for my chance to seek my revenge.
JUST KIDDING!!!
I think she still has her dog.

If I knew the person was evil, and could "win" no other way, I'd sue. It's not about the money. It's about good vs. evil.

That is a tough one, especially when it is a friend. I'd say it's more about principle than amount. I'm not exactly a Rockefeller, so anything over $100.00 is a lot to me personally. I'd certainly not lend them money again.

it's always about the principle
i mean, does kicking someones shins bring back the ice cream cone they wrecked? no. but i'm sure it makes you feel better.
..of course that's when the whole "be the better person" comes into play. bah.
