Is there some sport where you go as a pair and catch lobsters in the Florida Keys while free-diving and snorkeling? If so, I think I have the perfect partner and we would kick some butt, bigtime.
You'd have to be able to find the spots yourselves ( no "cheat maps" given) and NO scuba gear. Just two nets, gloves, mask, snorkels and fins and a "poke stick" to scare the lobsters out from their hiding places. Also, you can't do any damage to the coral or seagrass.
Hey, I just invented an event that's legal!

Oh, it is!!! And you're catching dinner also, so you'd have lots of support . It has to be in legal season, and also the participants would need a a guage to measure the carapice accurately (undersize gets thrown back). No females with eggs are allowed either. This is easy to spot. Also, NO spear-fishing. That can kill the "illegal" lobsters and also damage the coral beds where they live. It's a blast! First team to catch their limit (6 per person, so 12 total for a team of two) wins!
A friend of mine that I met down here and I started doing this when lobster season started. I've been out of commission for a bit because of my foot surgery, but I am SO looking forward to getting back out on the water.
The first day we went out, we caught our limit (and threw a lot more that we caught back because of size restrictions/egg-bearing females) in about two hours. Boy, our husbands and several friends were happy!
