PostPosted: 06/24/05 - 07:47    Post subject: Ideas for a program
I'm going to do a little project to help sharpen database and computer programming skillz. I'm thinking I'll write a program that serves as an exercise/training log. So far, the things I want it to do are as follows:

  • Create a training schedule (printable, maybe)
  • Log workout information (not unlike the spiffy log PH has prvided for us)
  • Keep track of nutritional info
  • Chart your progress with respect to pace, weight, whatever.

What other stuff would you think would be cool to incorporate?

Of course, I'm just doing it for fun, but if I can make something really cool, then I would consider distributing it (for a fee, but RRs would get a 100% discount, of course).

What would be really cool and I don't know if it's in the realm of possibility, but to have a format that would take the history a person has, whatever it might be mileage or muliti-trainingwise, and then forecast out a schedule consisting of the historical regime and build the appropriate schedule to a specified peak race period. Is that pie-in-the-sky or what? That's what I'd like to see a program do someday Wink

I was thinking along the lines of Jrjo, something to calculate, based on your previous week, what a safe increase in mileage would be for the next, ie, !0% equals this so up your long run this and wednesday this. And/or dictate "you've upped the last two weeks, this week why don't you drop back". Yeah, I just want a trainer in my computer. Wink
