the stores have been closed and haven't received new shipments, and in the case of my store, they lost power and have had to throw everything out. Lines have been around the block lately, but noon Wed turned out to be a good time to go traffic-wise. And since I haven't been to the store in, oh, 3 1/2 weeks, I felt it might be time. It wasn't crowded but they didn't have ANYTHING! I had to buy white bread (I like wheat) thumbs down I got the last skim milk (fortunately without a fight), the last pack of yogurt (they didn't have singles), cheese because they had no other sandwich fillings, and name brand (as opposed to store brand) cheerios. I did run into 3 different people I don't actually know but run "with" at the park including a local newscaster/runner

I think this was pretty much the state of Soviet consumerism for 70 years, where the markets were run by their permanent version of FEMA.

Exactly! In the last week there have been many a reference to communism amongst my family and friends here in town...very weird and unfamiliar situations.

Yes. But straight as the store is out of mixers. Neat, because there is no ice or power.

If I remember right, everything is neat when you're drinking vodka.
