Just remember that there are places like Juneau, Alaska. I know they liked it up there but at the same time it is a hard post. (Or so I hear) I was looking into it (reserves) a year and a half ago. But with my job and all the travelling I just couldn't swing it. |
I'm thinking about active duty. It doesn't really seem like I have much to loose. It's just a little scary to sign my life away for years. |
I haven't known anyone in the Coast Guard but FWIW the people I have known in other branches of service have never mentioned anything close to regret for the time they have put in, if anything, gratitude for the experience. I have tossed around the idea to help pay for school. I think my parents would lose their minds (they already did when I sort of hinted at it) but I think it sounds like a really great opportunity. |
I don't know anyone in the CG either but it sounds like a good fit for you, honestly. Especially if you don't have set in stone goals as to where you want to go or what you want to do next, and now's the time to do it while you're not tied down by anything else.
And think of the sailors!!!

I'm thinking af the sailors! The women only comprise about 15-20% of them.
But seriously the first two questions asked are am I married and do I have any children. Nadda! The only think I will miss are my parents and my friends. And my yorkie too! But I've always been able to handle not seeing them for a while.
I'm going in at 2pm tody to meet with the recruiter, so I'll have a lot mor info by then.
