And I'm kind of ashamed of the way others are treating them.
You know what, don't take it out on the guys who are there. They volunteered to go. They went. Shaq didn't go. MVP Garnett didn't go. Chris Webber didn't go. Jason Kidd didn't go. Kobe didn't go (although he was going until this trial thing came up.)
These guys went. They were given exactly two weeks of practice to prepare for their "European Tour" and then had to play in the Olympics against teams that play together year after year.
Yes, those teams have NBA players. But when the NBA season ends, they go and play for their national teams. And, to be honest, there are only a few on each team.
This team was thrown together. And there is a bunch of young, young guys on this team. LeBron would have just finished his first year of college. Carmelo would have finished his second. In fact, this is one of the youngest teams the US has ever sent to the Olympics, and that is including when the college guys played.
Larry Brown is a great coach. But he can't be expected to work miracles.
Shame on those who cheer against them. Did you cheer against the first dream team? Why now? Because they'll lose? I don't care what medal they get if they even get one, I'm cheering for them no matter what.
Have you noticed the only time the US fans get noisy during a game is when they pull ahead? I don't think the athletes are the only ones in need of attitude adjustments.

And one of the other two is Okafor, the only one yet to play in the NBA.

Awesome. I don't really care about basketball so much (Olympic or otherwise), but that's a good perspective.
