But first the good: Found Rob in the lobby of the Super 8, and just a few minutes later RR was there to pick us up. fubby Went back to the RR homestead and met the whole Rock family. What a great family!! Thank you guys sooo much for hanging out with us this weekend. Mr. Rock was the ultimate host, poking us full of food and beer. Rob was hella cool. Exactly like I thought he would be, minus the odor. Mr. Green

The Event:

Coming off a foot injury and just a really bad year in general, I knew this wouldn't be pretty, but I wasn't driving all the way to Pennsylvania to not take part in the festivities. My only goals were to not get lost, fall down, be abducted by aliens, or be obnoxious in any way.

The weather was a little warm and muggy, but it really was an improvement from the steam bath from the previous week. The course reminded me a lot of a race I do every year here at home. Starts off pretty tame, hills in the middle, tame at the end. There were lots of people spectating, and children with hoses to hose you down. Mr. Green
I went out of my way to slog through every hose I saw.

Final time was 52:37 by my watch. Almost 10 minutes slower than my best time last year. Embarassed I've got a lot of work to do. Hopefully someday I'll make the trip again to redeem myself.

After the race Keltic stopped by and had some food and beer with us. fubby Good times!! Definately worth the 20 hours we spent on the road.

For some reason this picture looks fuzzy. Confused

I'm sure you accomplished all of your goals except for being obnoxious, so you had a good trip. Mr. Green Seriously, you knew your fitness was down due to the injury, so no worries. You'll get 'em with a healthier base of training.

you rocked and rolled akern!

what a great sport to drive a gazillion miles and run (minus alot of training) on that hot hilly course and then hang out with us all weekend.

hard as i tried, i could not find the "obnoxious" side of akern. Razz

great having you at the Dancing Banana first annual Dancing Banana rolling rock/riff raff run!

Razz Not that bad a time coming off injury!! And you had a chance to meet up with other RiffRaffers, that made up for the race itself!

Yeah I was hoping for the obnoxiousness but Achey was very nice. It was super meeting up with you and your hubster, who did pretty damn well himself in that race.

I can relate, Achey. Getting out there and not letting the course beat you is a victory in its own right. I'm proud of you for sticking to it.

And no, the picture doesn't look all that fuzzy. Wink
