I've managed to step on dead animals a couple of times on early morning runs. You just don't see them until you feel them under your shoe. But I am thankful I haven't come across a skunk.

Ew, I know the feeling. A couple weeks ago I nearly stepped on a dead racoon that had it's guts strewn all around too. Yeah, it was like 88 degrees too. Thought I'd have smelt it long before stepping on it.
