Posted: 08/13/05 - 18:10 Post subject: I picked a guy up at the park and brought him home
His name is Jonathon Williams, and he has the http://www.runwillyrun.com/ . He is running across America, and I ran into him into the park this morning.
We're getting ready to eat dinner, but if any PA peeps are around, I think he's looking for somewhere to crash through PA.

Why you little hussy!
That's pretty cool, I noticed you got to run with him in your run report.

It looks like the closest he gets to me is Stroudsburg...and that's about two or so hours North.

I didn't want to say anything, but that was my dad's answer to how he and his last life partner met.

Posted: 08/15/05 - 08:26 Post subject: Update
Jonathon ended up taking off Sunday and spending it at our house resting and updating his journal. He had run, I think, 9 days straight before stopping at our place. He ran 36 miles on Saturday!
Dennis is dropping him back off at Dennison. He's then running to Steubenville, so it's a big mileage day, about 45 miles. We drove around yesterday to scout out his best possible route--aka the flattest safest route. He says the hills of the Missouri have been the toughest but he's been impressed (and dismayed) with the hills he has just started to encounter here in the East. I think PA will be much hillier for him.
Jonathon is a such a nice young man(he's 26.) It was a real pleasure having him in our home. He had run one marathon before, but was not really training for ultra distances before this. (He is a big time runner, running in high school and in college.)
He has nowhere planned to stay in Steubenville, and doesn't really worry about that. He said he will look up a local firehouse, or, since there is a university there, look up the local track team and see if he can stay with someone. It's such a neat attitude to have. He says everything has really been a positive for his whole trip so far. It's nice to know there are friendly Americans out there!
Aside note: I did my 4 mile run on Sunday morning. It's hard to blow off a 4 miler with an ultra runner in the house.
