For a 1/2 mile commute you don't need clipless but for rides you might want them.

Toe clips however scared me. My shoes/laces would get hung up in there where the clipless just take a very simple turn of your foot, same move every time and you're free.


I just tuck my laces into the side of the shoe. no more problem there.
