...and what better place to come but here!

Here's the story...

Back in April I started my own diet. I was bookin' along pretty well until I hit some big obstacles and I just couldn't take care of my obstacles and try to "fix" my eating habits at the same time. A month ago my husband told me about a guy at work that started NutriSystem. I'm not a big fan of fad diets but the convenience of having your food prepared for you gave me great hope for this one. In the past three weeks I have lost 10 lbs but this week I lost none. I know I cheated on the diet by adding too many fruits (maybe an extra 2 more/week) and by adding some extra low-glycemic carbs (maybe an extra 4 more/week). I had a small chocolate chip cookie once and went to eat out and had pizza once (very thin crust and the equivalent of approximately 3 pieces of "regular cut" pizza). I have done this type of "cheating" before and the scales still went down.

So, when I realized I hadn't lost anything this week I was somewhat bummed. I hadn't been taking my measurements since I started NutriSystem but I did start last April. So, I pulled out the measuring tape and realize that, although very slowly, I have been losing a lot of inches. I have lost one inch up top, 8 inches in my waist, and 4 1/2 inches in my hips over the past 6 months and a total of 26 lbs.

I am hoping the results from this week are somewhat skewed due to my "Aunt" coming to visit..."she" normally makes me "gain" 2-3 lbs when "she" comes. I was just hoping to get below a certain numerical goal this week and when I didn't it was sad.

I need some cheering up...and with "Auntie" here that may not happen soon.

All I know is that when the Reds are in town, I gain about 5 lbs of water and feel like poo.

Hang in there and congratulations on doing so well so far. You have a lot to be proud of!

You should know by now you've reached the dreaded "plateau". I wish you luck in getting past the plateau. I suppose the easy answer woud be to increase your activity level a little. Maybe vary your running program with a little bike or swimming.

You're doing GREAT !! Keep it up !!

That is a good idea. I have had a hard time getting in my workouts with both the kids around. I finally bought a seat for the baby to go on back of my bike and my son can now go at least five miles with me on the bike. So, even though it won't be what I consider a good workout I can at least get out there more with the bike and do some work. I think I may go do that today.

Have you seen the "add on" tandem bike for the kids to ride on ? Its basically the back wheel and crank of a bike, its attached to your seat post and the kid pedals as you go along. BTW: Helmets for everyone !!! (that includes mommy !!)

Yeah, we just bought helmets for all and went on a five mile bike ride Tuesday. My 7 yr old kept up really well but wasn't going all that fast. I'm not sure if I could put the 10 month old on my bike and have my 7 year old on "add on" or not...I doubt I'd be able to pull all that weight up and down the hills on the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) trail.

if #1 son pedals at all you will absolutely fly with the add on bike, hills will be a breeze

BUT IT'LL TAKE A BIT MORE LONGERER TO STOP!

I've seen son #1 and husband #1 on those bikes at the beach and husband #1 constantly yells at son #1 for not peddling! Wink

But, I will take the "add on" into consideration. Will it be possible to have the baby seat AND the "add on" at the same time?

Take a look over here for some baby stroller trailers and bike wheels like I described. (Scroll down)

Diva of course you can do the tandem and a baby seat !! It will make it that much more rewarding a program. Train with the extra weight and you'll see how much easier and faster you will go without the extra people when you get to do that duathlon.

BTW:: Canal and RR beds only have about a 2% grade. Come to my house and see hills.

Stopping is highly over-rated.
