xsprint, what Phar Lap is talking about isn't that Kenyan Boi will show improvement on your plan, but what the long term consequences could be. Some runners could handle the stress, but I suspect most can't. There could be burnout or injury if the program is too tough for that individual's body. And Phar did mention 18 months, not five. But I would even say 2 or 3 years down the road there is the opportunity for burnout.
I think the ultimate goal here for most of us is a lifetime of running healthy and happy.

wuts the point of that triple post?
i understand that running does have long term goals and i am nowhere close to my peak age, so i have lots of time to try diferent programs.
This is what i'll do, ill record some times this weekend for the 1500 and 3000, ill try to use xs's program for a month and see if it will improve my time but my schedule is already really busy, so when i have time run ill run using xs schedule
I'm running two New Balance track meets next week and another ten k on the 28th, i hope to keep up this race schedule for the upcoming months. at least 3 ten k races and 2-3 track meets every month. I also have to juggle my racing around soccer. My schedule is heavy right now and i'm sure running races frequently will also improve my time too. I also have soccer athletic/fitness sessions, so my training is covered.
I will also try running different events in track to improve the different muscles in my body, ill do some sprints and maybe try a steeple chase every meet. Both the two programs sound good but i realized my schedule is really busy.

if i ran a 10k in 43 minutes id retire. I dont think i could even run that long..find those races boring/ but good job especially for 14.

i dont think it was the best time I could have got. It was only my second race (the first was the week before) and i had only started running the previous week, so with training i can hopefully improve my time. My goal is to break 40 by the end of the summer.
