Posted: 05/16/04 - 17:32 Post subject: I'm so new...
Yeah, so I'm new to the forums, so new in fact that this is my first post (of many no doubt), so I thought I'd just say hi to everyone and ask a few little questions.
It should be noted that I've just been doing 4-5 mile runs for a few weeks and soccer training, I'm completley new to running.
1.) Give me a run down of some running terms. I heard "windsprints" earlier, stuff like that, it would be helpful I'm sure.
2.) Diets. You guys seem pretty serious about your training so no doubt you all have some kind of diet. I was on a high carb and high protein diet when I was doing weightlifting. That kind of died down. I have a high metabolism so I was on 6-7 meals per day and barely put any weight on. So with that taken in to consideration what is your diet like and what would you recommend to me?
3.) Any other hints and tips you can give me on increasing distance and/or time would help me a lot.
Nice to meet you all (in advance)

I learned about windsprints in soccer. Maybe it sounds better then intervals.
runnnersworld.com has a lot of background articles.

Welcome!!
I'm sure you'll get great advice on speed work (windsprints) from others who are much better at it than I. (same with the diet, I've been shoveling junk for a month)
Post away! We're glad to have you.

scOOt, why not make contact with Wigan Phoenix Aths. club I believe they are based in Standish.
They cater for all for all abilities, have registeed coaches and race all distances 5km. to 100km.
Road, XC. and Fell running.

Welcome scoot. Wind sprints would probably be better known around here as intervals. I think your first order of business would be building up a decent base and then deciding if you want to race. If you decide you want to race, pick a distance and then ask for advice on training for that particular distance.
