BUT...this situation has me pee'd off.
BUT.....And I'm not a huge enemy of walmart, BUT....
We have a decent sized walmart. The town we live in is economically depressed and starting to show signs of an upswing--so they are one of the only towns in Cali that have approved a Super Walmart.
Downside: Rather than building up the one Walmart they do have, they are going to move to a marshy area down the road. It borders a wildlife area. In the marshy area throughout the year, different types of birds populate the marsh. First, they have Cattle Egrets, Snowy Egrets, and Stilts. Then a few weeks later the gulls "own" the marsh. Then after that, the geese and ducks own it. It is a constantly rotating place, teeming with different types of birds which I enjoy on my way to work.
Just sad that we will be losing this.

The mental concept of a "Super" Walmart makes my face go red and eyes squint a little...
Is that normal?

I would raise hell if at all possible. Check your local laws, it's possible that if they are going to displace a viable wetland that they have to create another wetland to replace it. Wetlands are possibly the most valuable resource there is for wildlife. It isn't only the birds that make them teem with life.

baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahhahhahahahahaha.
seriously though - walmart needs to go to hell.
i don't care how many people they hire - how many small businesses have been shut down because of these places so that one a handful of people can get really really loaded?
