Gman sorry to hear your vacation didn't go according to plan .
I'm sure the victims family and friends would take enormous comfort from the fact that you did what you could for him and that he wasn't just left alone until the paramedics arrived. If it was one of my family involved I would be forever grateful . While any chance of infection is a chance too many, I would expect that the odds are well on your side that everything will be fine. All the best for your tests, and I hope they get the results to you nice and fast.
And I hope you are icing your ankle and doing some mobilisation exercises .
