I had the BEST time!!
I love skiing!! I'm not exactly Picabo Street yet....another weekend or two up there and I think I'll have it nailed. But no broken bones, only a couple bruises and a run in with ski patrol... but it was great! We got fresh snow both days we skied! Lots of fun, great resort, can't wait to go back!
I will say this Texan canNOT breathe at such altitudes! I thought I was in shape until I got winded just tying my shoes....Its nice to be back at sea level for breathing purposes, I'll say that much!!
So, which riff-raffer lives closest to Winter Park and can I stay with you, say, next weekend??

Runner X is the only CO resident that I know of.
Glad you had a good time! I noticed the same thing when I went from almost sea-level to those high altitudes. Everything was tough for the first couple of days.

Sound like fun. I wished I lived there so you could come visit.
What's this about a run in with the ski patrol? Inquiring minds want to know.

Um, yeah...
So, I was headed down this pretty green trail (should have been a blue, but not that I'm complaining) and it got narrower and steeper and I started going about mach 2....Got a little scared but took Monk's advice (you know, "If in doubt, fall") to stop....except I guess I was going so fast I still didn't stop, I just continued about mach 1, on my butt, headfirst towards a tree....I did finally stop about 10 inches from said tree right (scared half to death) right as ski patrol was skiing past (they just do little surveillance runs all the time) and I was completely freaked out so they offered to ski mobile me down (as they didn't really appreciate my proximity to the tree either...) so I took them up on the free ride and called it a day
It was a dumb mistake, I just got going to fast. And I was tired, I knew it was going to be my last run of the day but I thought I still had enough in me. Oh well, good lesson learned! Never ski when tired!
We actually weren't at Winter park, but just down the street at Solvista. But Winter Park looks very very cool....

Whew!! For a minute there I thought you were going to confess that you were really Shelfie's naked sledding partner and that's why you had the run-in with the ski patrol!
Were that the case, I am quite certain Runner X would be happy to provide you with accommodations!
Sounds like a great trip, girlie! You certainly needed the getaway. Now, back to your homework!
