As of very soon, I'm dropping my Y membership. No more pool access for me for now. It's almost $50/mo and I'm rarely seen cruising in the lap lanes.
With all of my wife's surgery problems it makes it really hard for me to get up to the pool on a regular basis (or get out of the house for that matter).
I'm changing my focus over to duathlons. I did 3 of them in 2003 and they were all a lot of fun.
I'm going to get a treadmill at the end of the year so I can run, ride and lift all in the relative comfort of my garage and never be more than a few minutes away from any problem that may come up. It's not the best way to train, but for now, that's the way I'm going to have to do things.
Maybe for the 2005 season I can add swimming back in but for 2004, I'll settle for being the best duathlete I can be.

I am sure the decision wasn't easy, but it sounds like a good one.

I agree.
You have a lot on your plate with your family and your time at home is very important. Like Cappy said, this must have been a hard decision to make.
You're a good man all the same. Mrs. H is one lucky woman.

While surfin' hot deals, I think I saw pools at Walmart for $129. No need for the Y
Tri in '05 sounds like a plan. Besides, you'll hit a new age group that year and can take 'em by storm.

That's a good decision! It's nice to know you care so much about Mrs. H. Your wife is lucky to have you around!
