The preferred method for locked cars is: pull the top of the window out of its track, then reach down and in and unlock the door.

Been there, BTW: Came down to my car as I was leaving the Hilton in SoCal a few years ago to find my window smashed. Had a 7 hour drive back in 100 degree weather with no side window. burning mad
