but this never fails to feel like a punch to the gut. My husband was notified
today that he is being deployed ASAP and will be gone for the duration of the
"conflict". I know it's the territory, and I'm proud he serves, but that notifcation always takes my breath away and leaves me unable to breathe for awhile.
This is difficult because he is truly my partner in crime. We've been together
for 13 years, but can't wait to be together at the end of the day. We were
training for our first 10k this spring. He probably won't be here. He is my coach, my partner, my trainer, my mentor. I'm going to miss him, terribly!

Thanks guys! It would be easier if I knew how long, but I don't. Thanks for
the nice words. I think keeping the training program will make it go by faster.

Be proud of your hubby and tell him thanks for defending our country. I know you will miss him, but keep training and really wow him when you beat him in that next 10k!

Chin up, girlfriend!! Like Joe said, we'll all be here for ya, all the way! Our military, thanks to dedicated people like your hubby, is the best in the world--it'll be a short, sweet can o' Whoop Ass opened up on those losers, and he'll be home before you know it!
In honor of your hubby and with much gratitude, famous words from Lee Greenwood:
If tomorrow all the things were gone
. . I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
. . with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
. . to be livin' here today.
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
. . And they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
. . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
From the lakes of Minnesota
... To the hills of Tennessee
... Across the plains of Texas
... From sea to shining sea
... From Detroit down to Houston
... And New York to LA
Well there's pride in every American heart
And its time we stand and say..
That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up . . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up . . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA!

It's tough, itn't it? The first time my husband was deployed it was the shock of my life. The second one was easier. We've been in the "civilian" world for 2 years now (love it!), and we are both worried. I don't think he'll get the call because officers usually aren't called back because there isn't any difference on Navy ships between wartime manning and peace time manning, but we have so many people we care about who have either extended deployments (some came home for Christmas and then headed back out) or are being deployed early. The Navy battle groups that are over there now left a month early, and the others that just got back are leaving within a few days.

Best wishes for a safe and expeditious return for Mr. Airehead, and a big thanks, too.
And don't forget there's plenty of good listeners here any time you want to vent.

Hey Genie--you might get a chuckle out of this, but this was the song I chose for my wedding--as the guys came in in their uniforms. Not a dry eye in the place! Every time I hear this song I think of my wedding!
Thanks everyone for the sweet words--they mean so much to me, and
even more to Mr. Airehead! (I think I'll even print it out and tuck it
in his Bible)
Good luck, Shelee, I hope he doesn't get deployed! I've been in this world
for about 13 years, and it is hard hearing those words "I've got to go..."
But, I love my world and I wouldn't change it for anything!
Thanks for your support, I can't tell you how much I need you guys!
And I'm looking forward to being entertained!!!!
