It's made me realize how wildly my caloric intake varies from one day to the next. I'm just guessing, but I'd say an 800 calorie swing isn't the best way to go about things...

I've just started doing fitday again. I normally don't like too because it's too time consuming, but it's helping me trim down, so I'm using it for now.

Fit day is very useful if you are trying to lose weight.

Judging by your 'figure', maybe the opposite is true. A feast/famine routine, I would say is better for a person than the typical feast/feast routine of average Americans. Surprised

So if you use it do you have to know the exact measurements of everything you eat? Meaning you have to measure it when you prepare things?

I haven't seen this before, looks interesting. I try to be calorie conscious, but I don't really "count" because it seems too hard. But maybe this would be a fairly easy way to do it?

If you don't know the calorie content you can search their data-base for figures. They may not be dead on, but it does give you a good idea about where you're at. You can add the nutritional content of anything else you eat too. It sounds like a lot of work at first but it's not that bad, and after you enter most things once, its a breeze.

I have tried in the past but I just dont think I do a good job of estimating my serving size.

I think I Need to use it or just watch what I snack on more. I am really struggling with the between meal snacks right now.

If you have time on the weekend, actually measure your liquids, etc. Get an idea what portions look like.

A standard coffee cup can hold between 8-10 oz of liquid. 16 oz cups typically hold 12-14 with ice. A fist is typically 3-4 oz of meat, unless you have huge hands.

When you cook meat, take note on how many pounds you're cooking, divide by number of pieces (i.e. 4 chicken breasts are just over a lb, each one is about 4 oz.), voila serving size.

I've been using it for a while now, and haven't lost a damn pound...course, I am running a marathon on Sat, so I havent really been trying. It would keep me in line much better were it to scream and yell at me for eating things I know I shouldn't Cool

I used to use fitday, but I found it made me really anal about what I ate. It felt like I was always counting. Didn't work for me.

I think I need to start using the site again to see what all I am eating and what I need to cut out. My weight is going up again!

Bit of a bump, but- I use fitday for its free database, and calorieking.com for their more accurate and much better food calorie counts. I end up making a lot of custom foods but that doesn't bother me since I eat a lot of certain things regularly.
