Or, things happen wherever LC is (source: WMTW-TV).

WELLS, Maine -- Students at two southern Maine high schools are having cold water thrown on their steamy dances at school events.

Wells and Cape Elizabeth this fall banned a dance style known as "grinding," which features boys grinding their pelvises against girls' backsides. School officials said the dance is sexually suggestive and has no place in schools.

But defenders of grinding said the dance is a sign of the times, like the twist or disco in years past.

Grinding has generated controversy in other places as well.

Last month, 150 high school students in Concord, N.H., walked out of a dance and went to a nearby park so they could continue grinding. In Orange County, Calif., a principal canceled all school dances this year, saying he was appalled at all the grinding and skimpy clothing.

Not like the old days is it Triever ?

Remember the Foxtrot the Modern Waltz and the Quickstep.

The "terpsichorean arts" have long since gone down the chute.

one more anomaly - i'm white, with hair, and can dance just fine thanks.

back to the topic though -

i'd really like to condemn most hiphop (and pop would then follow) videos for really bringing in booty dancing and grinding and all that. grinding is a fun time, and most people would do it as a joke - but you can't go to the bars nowadays without seeing a bunch of 18 y/o hootches dancing in the most demeaning manner.

and we're not talking about 1940's era "no wiggling the waist". i'm talking girls grinding each other, getting up in the booty boxes in tiny skirts (where some guys will literally camp out and just stare). etc etc.

it's really sadening. i knew a lot of classy girls at the bar that could dance well, and you could always do a flirtatious dance or two, but at least they weren't wh*res about it.

anyway, that said, the girls will eventually figure out how short they're selling themselves (and i say girls, because all the guys ever do is just stand there) and won't dance like hookers the rest of their lives.

better to have the kids at the dance then out doing drugs or something else... school dances are important that way.

I rarely grind dance.

But then again, I rarely dance.

Our hash group has an awesome dancer.... his name is Twisted.

He told me that he learned to dance from some strippers he met while stationed overseas... he really is a good dancer.... he never grind dances at all...

I hate strippers, but if they can teach me how to dance like Twisted.....
