myself, the coachette, and coach jr for this race.

We are actually doing the 5K. Mrs coach will be unable to run, as she started having serious knee problems this summer, and we believe that she has a torn meniscus. So, she is going to put running on hold, probably until the spring. She tried to quit running for a month, and ran one week, and her knee hurt worse than before.
This will be coachette, and coach jr's, 4th 5K in the past year. In Oct, they will be running the Hobo Day 5K, which is where they made their first race last year.
It's really run having them come to the races. At the last one we did, in June, coach jr finished the 5K, and then turned around 5 minutes later and ran the 1 mile (which was for kids who couldn't do the 5K) He was kind of the star of the day. He even beat his sister at the 5K for the first time (and she's two years older).
I'm sure she'll be wanting some revenge this time. A little sibling rivalry.
Actually, it's really made them closer. They talk about racing together, and they are very proud of their accomplishments, and love wearing their race t-shirts to school.
We just encourage them to do their best. We have not forced them to do any of these runs. On the contrary, we have just said that there is a race this day, Mom and Dad are running, do you want to run?
Good, solid, family time.

Let me know for sure, if you are running, I'll be sure to make it. Maybe I'll even train for the half.

Will definitely give you plenty of heads-up.

Hay that's cool! sounds like a good time. How do you get your family to run? Mine only do if I'm chasing them.

well, my daughter is a very fast runner, and proud of it, and she did the half mile so well last fall, during the president's fitness challenge that I asked her if she wanted to do a 5K. She said yes.
Then the night before the race, coach jr, said that he wanted to do it too. He was only six at the time, and we really tried to talk him out of it, but he was very insistent that he could do it.
Well, he came in only about 2 minutes behind his sister, and since then he has been hooked, he wants to run in every race. coachette likes to run in the races, but has already decided that it's "too long" and that she's better at shorter races.
I guess it's the old saying, kids do what they see. They have seen Dad running races for most of their lives, and Mom started a couple of years ago, and that's that.
