I'm not watching it, but I just noticed that the movie "Traffic" is on NBC tonight. I might turn it on, if for no other reason than I am having a hard time understanding how that rated R movie (that I, an over 18 year old, really enjoyed, but) that is all about drug trafficking, can be edited into a pretty little primetime piece. Or do I have a completely different idea from network execs as to what is good "family hour" fare? holy crap. When I have kids we're not owning a tv

I have no idea how some movies can be edited for television and still retain any semblance of their narrative structure and have a similar effect that the theatrical version did.

I mean, Kids--say no to drugs, blah blah blah, but nothing about that movie would I want anyone younger than say 16 watching. And it started at 7! "Look kids, here's the part where she prostitutes herself out to a drug dealer in the slums for more blow! isn't that fantastic? This or spongebob?"
I'm shocknawed. and traumatized. and a prude.

Yes, but they cut out the nudity and the act of intercourse. It's family friendly!
For all that I'll watch nearly any movie (except for 28 Days Later or Napoleon Dynamite), I have a feeling that I'm gonna be very limiting in what I let my dog watch, let alone my children.
