... that someone who is now here under a new pseudonym is one of the main reasons I left "the other site". Interesting, because said person seems much different to me over here than there.

This made me think about that grudge thread we had awhile back, with a new twist: do you hold grudges against people you don't know because of what they say? And does it bother you that you do (if you do)?

If 'fubby' means 'asstacular' then I concur.

She's fubby all the time!

But it doesn't matter who it is. But I find it interesting that said person really annoyed me over there, but seems OK here. The resulting question posed here has been fascinating me all day - I hold deep grudges against people in real life because of what they do against me, but (as we've seen here recently Embarassed ) I hold them based on what people say to me, or say that I've said that I haven't, and it bothers the crap out of me because that's so third grade.

I used to when I was younger, whether I knew someone well or not, but I've learned over time that sometimes people react differently in different arenas, or because of circumstances in their lives at the time, or for any number of other reasons. I used to brawl heavily all the time with someone a long time ago "over there" but we've talked about it since we both came here and are no longer enemies. She and I were both going through a lot of personal stuff way back then, plus the tone over there has always lent itself to the wolf pack mentality, so a lot of people got involved and took sides that had no business being in the middle and that made things even worse. As much as I don't shy away from a good battle, it really isn't my preferred mode of communication.

I really honestly think that life's too short to hold grudges. If someone's really that much of an a-hole, it'll show and I'll ignore them. But I've several times been pleasantly surprised when giving it another try with someone I previously thought I'd never get along with. Wink And like you said, it really is third grade, but I see the need to be self-protective, that "once bitten twice shy" thing, too. That's human nature.

I figure two tries is about all I can do. Sometimes first impressions are wrong, but if they aren't, it'll come out.

I'm half Sicilian. I hold half a grudge.

Actually, what Shelfie said. I like to change lanes and keep on driving.

Nah...not much of a grudge holder, but I may be a bit more wary....

I have NO idea who you're talking about, and am perfectly okay not knowing...I'm just glad over here isn't like over there. Its so much more friendly here. (although I do lurk/post over there too...it's like a train wreck, I just can't help myself)

I don't hold grudges if someone hurts me, but there are times I'd rather not answer than risk saying something that I'll regret or might hurt someone.

But, if someone insults or hurts a family member or a beloved friend, then it will take a lifetime for them to earn my respect back.

I have an a**clown brother-in-law who will never have my respect due to how he's treated my sister and my parents.

No time for grudges here.

And as for who I was over there, as Stevie Winwood might say "I'm the same boy I used to be."
