anyone know what I could expect to pay for a taxi fare? I know it prolly depends on the city, cab co. etc. I have about a 12 mile ride in cincinnati on saturday morning. roads should be clear, no rush hour traffic. I just haven't done this since NYC about 10 years ago.

You should be able to call a cab company to find out, right? Don't all the cab companies have to charge the same rate? I know thats how it is in Chicago anyway.

mosT of my experience in cabs in in DC, and there they go by zones and peak/non peak, not miles or time per se......with that having been said, an apr. three mile ride, nonpeak is $6.00, add a buck for peaK

In San Fran, I got hit like that once too (luckily I was on the company tab)... renting a car is definitely cheaper, esp if you plan to go out more than once.
