Posted: 10/26/03 - 23:34 Post subject: I have to toot my own horn!!!
I ran 8.7 miles without stopping yesterday!!! (well except for my "pop-a-squat" at mile 6ish...had to pee ya know)
My previous PB without stopping was 2 miles so imagine my shock!
I just wanted to get 2 miles before I walked, when I got there I said to myself that I should try for 3, at 2.5 I wanted to walk but I said come on just go to 3. Once I hit three I felt I could keep going. I found my rhythm and was just trotting along. The last mile, a really funny song came on that DH and I used to mimic all the time..."give it to me baby ...uh huh...uh-huh" and I just flew through the last mile. An older gentleman (as he passed me) told me I looked strong and to keep it up for a strong finish. Made my day. Ofcourse I am still having trouble walking now but I feel great...lol.
What an accomplishment considering 3 months ago I couldn't complete a quarter mile.
Thanks for letting me brag a bit.
Christa

That's awesome! You know for a lot of runners, the first few miles are the hardest. After that you sort of fall into your grove. I'm sure you're a much better runner than you give yourself credit for. Keep up the good work!
And all the girlies say I'm pretty fly, for a white guy.

Great Job Christa! You're entitled to "toot your own horn!" You'll be ready for the AZ RnR before you know it!

Thats Fantastic! Quite a jump from 2 miles to 8.7 miles.
My advice for you today is to take the day off from running.

Great job! It's a great feeling when you think you can go forever and the miles just fly by. PH is right, take today off and let those legs heal! (and enjoy the well earned day off)
