What was Ward Cleaver's job? Anyone know?

I checked the source for all things trivial and I didn't get an answer, but I did get this:
| imdb.com wrote: | Hugh Beaumont (who played Ward Clever) held a Master of Theology degree from the University of California and was an ordained minister.

I can't remember. All I remember is he wore a suit.
We had a big discussion about it over the weekend and my dad says that we were never told what he did. But I don't think that's right either.

Read Cappy's link. The show really never detailed what Beaver's dad did (exactly) for a living.
Other good trivia questions and answers:
LTTB was the first TV show to show a toilet on the air while the Munsters was the first program to show a husband and wife in bed together on air. Good trivia.
