I was a roofer for 6 months in Orlando after I got out of the Marines. Great motivation for going back to college and finding a new career.

6 months in the summer or 6 months in the winter.
Because one of those would be living heck. The other would just be a crappy job.

It was May through October, 1978. The workers were reasonably stable for the firm I worked for at the time. A couple of them were on probation and had just gotten out of jail but overall seemed liked good people. Of course, I was amazingly naive at the time - I have no idea what they had been in for.
