Why do they put a gun time and a chip time, but compute your pace off of the gun time? This is the second card I've gotten that way - first PDR, now BSR. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of chip timing?

One is how the officially score you. One is for your personal stuff, since most people start their watches when they pass the start line.

One is how the officially score you. One is for your personal stuff, since most people start their watches when they pass the start line. |
Is this just a Philly thing? That's dumb - why should I be penalized because of a lot of people at the start. And all my NYC races use the chip time. That is cause for concern because I want a BQ at the 'thon and don't need extra time added on (plus I thought Boston used chip time).

Same way in Texas. I believe the gun time is the time recoginized by USTF rules.
