I found a race to do while I am on vacation in New Jersey.

Quote:
Race starts at 10:30AM Website: http://www.ironpete.com/Mauler_5k.pdf USATF-NJ GRAND PRIX RACE - 500 POINTS. This race is the toughest, nastiest, meanest 5k in New Jersey! The feature of this race is a hill known as The B*st*rd. You've run faster, now come run The B*st*rd. It's guaranteed to make you finish minutes slower than your average 5k. Be prepared to do your Personal Worst time! You will not look pretty after the race, or think highly of the organizers of this brutal event. The event is not for wimps, pansies, candy@$$es, flatlanders, whiners, or belly-achers. You must be tough to run this race. The race is a brutal 8.7 on our Hillometer Chart, with 10 being Grand Canyon like and 1 being flat as a pancake. On the Terrain Agility/Stability Chart, the course is a moderate 4.3 (10 being abundant rocks , roots, etc and 1 being smooth as silk).

Many thanks to elkid for telling me about http://www.Jerseyrunner.com

There is even a second one listed on December 28 in Randolph (my old hometown) but it just says 5K and 1 Mile run. No other details, so I had to email them for more information.

Here are the details on the other race I found:

Quote:
2ND ANNUAL CHILLY HILLY CHALLENGE
5K Run & 1.5 Mile Campus Walk

THE EVENT

Let’s face it, we all need a 5K after the holidays and before the New Year and what better time to make a fitness-based resolution for 2004? Not quite up to a 5K after all of that turkey and pie? Then you might want to give our scenic 1.5 mile Campus Walk a try. It’s just right for all ages.

We’ll keep you warm with our indoor staging area and long-sleeved tee. We’ll keep you energized with our challenging course and non-stop DJ music. And we’ll refill your tank with delicious post race refreshments.

So now the question is are 2 5K's the 2 weekends after a marathon to much. I realize I won't be fast (unless I have one heck of a recovery) but it would be nice to get some shirts from different areas?

I did the Hilly Chilly Challenge last year. It is pretty Hilly, and It is pretty chilly. Cappy met me there. I might do it again, but the B*s*a*d looks really cool, too.

With a name like The B*stard I find it hard to resist. If I can rearrange some family commitments I'm in.

The Morris Mauler takes place on 12/21 in Lewis Morris Park which is near Morristown New Jersey. If you download the PDF file that is in the link it has the directions to the park.

The Chilly Hilly Challenge takes place in Randolph which is where I graduated from High School and I used to run through that campus when I ran Cross Country in high school.
