...can someone give me any ideas as to the life expectancy of a GPS system?
I've had a Timex GPS (with the 100-lap Ironman watch) since the summer of '03. The watch is doing fine, other than the night light feature does not work anymore (but that's not an essential). The GPS, though is not picking up the mileage. It will get started, but within a half-mile or so, it loses the signal.
I know there are plenty of spots where we live where the signals can be tough to pick up or maintain, but this is happening in locations where it shouldn't. and for the record, the GPS has not been dropped, put in the wash, or anything like that that you could expect from me. Battery changes have not resolved this.
Much obliged for your thoughts, experiences, etc. Thanks!

That doesn't seem right that it would go bad already. I'd add that if you need to replace it go with the Garnin 201. Cheaper than you paid for the Timex GPS too.

Have you checked with Timex on it. I know I had a question a year or so ago about interference with my AICD, they got back to me right away.
I have the original Timex GPS. Its over 2½ years old, and I haven't had any problems with it.

Thanks, anyway.
