Sorry, Kattz, I beg to differ on the important thing.....I've been to both Lex and Lou and given the choice, I'd pick Louisville in a heartbeat. Lex was pretty with the horse farms and all, but Louisville has far more life and character. Basketball isn't the be all end all, ya know! Wink

Pffffff......duly noted but it's still funny. Twisted Evil

You will quickly come to learn (if you move there, of course!) that Lexington is full of yuppies and 'da ville is full of rednecks. Sorry, it's true!

I hope that wink there on the end means you are kidding with that statement. Basketball=religion.
we have a lot of training to put you through if you really are serious about considering a Kentucky institution for higher learning.... Mr. Green

Yabut, I am not considering THAT Kentucky institution for higher learning, so basketball isn't an issue Wink Actually, I've just about narrowed it down to 5--some of the others you won't like either (Duke being one of them) and UK did not make the cut. I was half kidding, I do really like college hoops, but somehow that didn't enter into the factor analysis for school choices. Perhaps I should re-run it adding that variable? Wink

I don't think we have any UofL fans but just in case we do I think it should be noted that Genie doesn't think Louisville has a basketball team. Thats exactly Right Genie! You're learning already Mr. Green

that's alright. she didn't think UK had a football team either...

(big time!) Of course, I went to Morehead State...all we've got is Phil Sims...and that doesn't say much! Very Happy

No, it isn't "Hell, KY" it is "Hell for certain, KY." I AM NOT KIDDING!!! It is in Leslie County in the Eastern part of the state.

Note: My college roomie used to tell me that and I just took it for granted so when I made this post I looked it up on Microsoft Streets & Maps and it is totally there!!! Shocked

Leslie County is home of Hyden (said "hah-den") which is home of Tim Couch, who was our only attempt at playing college level football...

I don't know about your Lexington Yuppies/Louisville Redneck comment...

Yeah, I wasn't in Lex long enough to see a lot of yuppies, but I thought the people in Louisville were actually pretty normal.....and everyone I met was really really really nice. Like, genuine nice, not fakey nice like they are here. Even the teenagers weren't really freaky like they are here.

Lexvegas seems to have 2 extremes: Snotty and rich or toothless barefoot 3rd grade dropout. No middle.

L'ville has many varieties...I have an email that said it well....hold please

Well, I can tell by the gorgeous horse farms we drove by and some of the houses in town that there's definitely mo' money there.....but I didn't get a comfy enough feeling from the town to want to stay and explore further.

L'ville, however, I was quite sad to leave. Smile

My roomie that told me about Hell for certain is friends with Tim Couch! She is from a hollar outside of Hyden called Cinda.

You know the 'ville/Lex reference was correct. Admit it! Very Happy

This is SO un-PC its ridiculous but in some odd way it captures most of the stereotypes around town.

The new Barbies in town

There are some new additions to the Barbie line based on the Louisville Metro Area:

Anchorage Barbie - this pretentious witch Barbie is only sold at Oxmoor or Springhurst.. She comes with Kenneth Cole 4 inch asymmetrical heel shoes (actual size), an assortment of real Kate Spade handbags, a take-out box from Dietrich's and a mini BMW convertible. Has recently had Botox injections.

Middletown/J-town Barbie- this trendy homemaker Barbie is available with the mini-SUV or mini-minivan vehicles, gets lost easily, and has no full-time occupation or secondary education. Available and usually confused found at Mall locations searching Kraft stores for "Country Cute" items to make for her kitchen.. Also available to have discrete affairs with Ken's friends and coworkers. 'Traffic Jamming Cell Phone' sold separately.

Fairdale Barbie - this special white trash model comes in Wrangler jeans
that are 2 sizes too small, a NASCAR shirt, big hair, a mini Bud Light in the can, a Hank Jr. CD set, can spit over 5 feet, and she can kick Ken's ass when she's drunk. A mini pickup is also available with Rebel flag bumper stickers and Confederate flag a flyin'.

Old Louisville Barbie - this model features Ken in a sequined cocktail dress, breast implants, press-on nails, and a really really bad wig. Details include a hand stamp from The Connection, a rainbow scarf, and a CD box set featuring Judy Garland, Billie Holiday and assorted big show tunes.

Highlands Barbie - this Barbie model is sold in Ken's clothes, features hairy armpits, tattoos, and a mini CD set from the Indigo Girls and kd lang. A special limited edition militant penis-hating Lillith Fair model is also available. Often found hanging out with Bardstown Road Barbie.

Bardstown Road Barbie - this Barbie model features non-functional 10-inch platforms, over 12 body piercings, 14 tattoos, a purple-green hair color, smells like an athlete, has no occupation, and is waiting on the curb at Ear-X-Tacy for the St. Matthews Barbie to return and pick her up.

Shively Barbie- this thick Barbie comes with 4-inch long airbrushed curved
nails, a blonde hair weave, excessive gold jewelry and caps, bling-bling,
and is also available with the Lil' Kim SUV with automatic weapons.

Germantown Barbie- this Barbie sports a really bad 80's  perm, acid washed jeans and white Rebook knockoffs purchased at DAV old man Ken
has no job, no car owns no property, but thinks his life is great because
he lives where there is a bar on every corner. Comes with beat-up 1979 primer colored Monte Carlo.

St.Matthews Barbie. Drives an oversized SUV (no boring mini van for her!)
Wears modified bob hair style just like the rest of her Bunco Club friends. Comes with an assortment of  U of L polo shirts from Dawahares and Laura Ashley dresses. Favorite topic among friends, who has the best furniture "Ethen Allen or Cherry House". Gets it on with Ken once a month, if he forfeits golf game to  stay home with family. Motto: If it's not a name brand, it's not in my house.

That is hilarious!!! LOL

Funny thing about Bardstown Barbie, I remember remarking how many tattoo parlors there were in that area! And Ear-X-Tacy did remind me a lot of South Street.
